Up to what maximum heat temperaturecan MULTICERAMICS absorb?

MULTICERAMICS-P 500°F OR 260°C - WE SUGGEST KEEPINGMOST APPLICATIONS UNDER 400°F OR 210°C BECAUSE OFHEAT SPIKES WHICH CAN EXCEED 500°F OR 260°C.

Can it be applied to steam pipes?

YES.

As a burn protection to workers?

YES.

If I apply MULTICERAMICS-P to a steam pipe line exceeding boiling temperature for 5 hours,

a. Will the ceramic still insulatethe pipe?YES
b. Will it reduce the pipe to asafe touchable temperature?YES
c. Will it peel off?NO, SO LONG AS IT DOES NOT EXCEED 500°F OR 260°C.

Can it be applied to air condition ductsand the tops of external air conditioners?

YES

Can it be applied to surfaces to reduce orstop condensation?

YES. THE THICKNESS NECESSARY WOULD BE ABOUT 40 TO 60MILS THICK. (1 MM TO 1.5MM) DEPENDING UPON THEHUMIDITY AND THE TEMPERATURE OF THE UNIT BEINGCOATED. EXTREME SITUATIONS WILL REQUIRE MORE.

Can it be used as replacement to urethane insulation or fiberglass insulation?

YES. THERE ARE SITUATIONS WHERE THE OTHER PRODUCTS MAY WORK BETTER OR MIGHT BE CHEAPER. EACH APPLICATION HAS TO HAVE ALL ASPECTS CONSIDERED AS TO EFFECTIVENESS AND COST BENEFITS.

What is the texture of your finishproduct surface?

SMOOTH

Can it be applied to concrete?

YES

Can it be painted over after beingapplied to the concrete?

YES. IN A NON-SOLAR APPLICATION, IT CAN BE PAINTED ANYCOLOR. RECOMMENDED IS AN ACRYLIC TYPE PAINT. IN A SOLAR APPLICATION, PAINT OVER WITH MCHYDROPHOBIC. DO NOT USE COLOR PAINT AS IT WILL IMPACT AND REDUCE THE BENEFITS OF THE SOLARREFLECTION AND HEAT REDUCTION.

Does it have corrosive resistantproperties?

NO. PRIME SURFACE WITH MC502-3 THAT IT ADHERESDIRECTLY TO THE SURFACE, ACTING AS A VAPOR BARRIER.MC502-3 IS IMPERVIOUS TO MOISTURE, ITMINIMIZES/REDUCES THE CHANCE OF CORROSION.

Is it acid resistant?

NO. IF IT IS GOING TO BE USED IN AN ABRASIVE OR ACID ENVIRONMENT, THEN IT SHOULD BE SEALED WITH AN ACID RESISTANT URETHANE SUCH AS MC-U-XTRA.

Does it have any resistance properties tomechanical loads?

NO. IT IS NOT DESIGNED TO TAKE SUCH LOADS.

Will it adhere or bond to aluminum orstainless steel without primer?

YES

Can we obtain different colors from thefactory?

IT IS ONLY PRODUCED IN AMBER. FEW APPLICATIONSREQUIRE COLORING IT. IF COLOR IS REQUIRED, INQUIREABOUT COST AND QUANTITIES.

Can we tint it ourselves?

NO, THIS IS A DELICATE PROCESS THAT REQUIRES ASPECIFIC FORMULATION TO PRESERVE PERFORMANCE.

What is the application procedure?

AN INFORMATION PACKAGE FOR APPLICATIONTECHNIQUES, PROCEDURES, CHECKLIST AND EQUIPMENT IS INCLUDED WITH EACH ORDER.

Is there a way to reduce thedrying/curing time?

YES. BY ADDING HEAT AND INCREASED AIR FLOW, THE DRYING/CURING TIME CAN BE SPED UP. IN THE SUN, CURING TIME IS AN HOUR OR TWO.

Is there a way to reduce the number ofcoats to be applied on a surface to speedup the application?

YES. CAN BE APPLIED IN THICKNESSES OF 30 MILS (.4MM) UP TO 60 MILS (1.6MM) PER COAT.

WARRANTY IS FOR TWO YEARS IN INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS (HOT PIPE ETC.) AND 10 YEARS FOR COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS (ROOFS ETC.)

Is it a single component application?

YES

Is there a need for primer?

YES, ON RAW CARBON STEEL. THE SURFACE MUST BE CLEAN, DRY AND FREE OF DUST, DIRT, GREASE OR OIL. ON MOST STEEL SURFACES, IT IS RECOMMENDED TO USE A RUST INHIBITOR PRIMER AS IN THE ORDINARY PREPARATION OF THE STEEL.

Can we apply the coating directly oncleaned & prepared surface withoutprimer?

YES

If there is a need for primer what type ofprimer do we use?

YOU CAN USE RED ZINC OXIDE OR SIMILAR ON BAREMETALS, OR IF EXPOSED TO SALT AIR (OIL RIGS)

If MULTICERAMICS is applied to theinterior of a roof, will it be still aseffective?

YES. IT WILL NOT REFLECT THE SOLAR HEAT, BUT WITH 30TO 40 MILS (.8MM TO 1.0MM) IT WILL BLOCK THE HEAT FROMTHE INSIDE. YES, IT STILL WORKS BUT DIFFERENTLY, THUSREQUIRES THICKER APPLICATIONS.

I understood that the efficiency ofMULTICERAMICS is best when?

exposed to the sun, not underground, inside a roof, or under another coating. YES, FOR OTHER FORMULATIONS SUCH AS: MC502-3, MC-U,MC-U-X, MC-H, THE BEST APPLICATION IS ON AN EXTERNALROOF AT 15 MILS/.4MM. - FOR REDUCING SOLAR HEAT. WITHTHERMAL CONDUCTIVE HEAT, THEN YOU HAVE TO USE MORE PRODUCT TO BLOCK THE HEAT. THIS IS THE SAMEWITH ALL INSULATIONS. MOISTURE WILL NOT IMPACTMULTICERAMICS'S INSULATION EFFECTIVENESS AS WITHOTHER MATERIALS.

Can it be applied as an interior orexterior coating?

YES. FOR OTHER FORMULATIONS SUCH AS: MC502-3, MC-U,MC-U-X, MC-H. EXTERIOR AT 15 MILS (.4MM) AND INTERIOR 30MILS (.8MM) OR THICKER DEPENDING UPON THE SITUATION.

Does it stain easily, how do we cleanit?

JUST LIKE WHITE PAINT STAINS. CLEAN WITH SOAP ANDWATER. IF A CLEAN SURFACE IS IMPORTANT, THEN SEAL ITWITH A LATEX ENAMEL OR A URETHANE

Can it be removed from a surface ifnecessary?

YES. PAINT THINNER OR PAINT STRIPPER WILL TAKEIT OFF SLOWLY.

Is the surface affected after removing it?

THE SURFACE WILL PROBABLY NOT BE AFFECTED, BUTEACH APPLICATION IS DIFFERENT, SO THIS IS NOT A KNOWN

How long is the shelf life of yourproducts?

ONE YEAR WHEN STORED INSIDE IN A COOL PLACE. DO NOTALLOW TO FREEZE.

What are the main criteria forevaluating the required thickness?

FOR A PIPELINE :

  • IS IT ABOVE GROUND OR BELOW GROUND?
  • IS IT IN AN ABUSIVE ENVIRONMENT?
  • DOES THE INSULATION NEED TO BE SEALED?
  • WHAT IS THE INSIDE TEMPERATURE OF THE PIPE?
  • WHAT IS THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE OF THE PIPE?
  • WHAT IS THE OUTSIDE & INSIDE TEMPERATURE YOU WISH TO MAINTAIN?
  • WHAT IS THE AMBIENT AIR TEMPERATURE OR GROUND TEMPERATURE?
  • WILL YOU HAVE RE-HEATING STATIONS ON THE LINE?
  • WHAT IS THE FLOW RATE IN THE PIPE? CONSIDER ALSO THAT ALL ELBOWS, VALVES AND OTHERFITTINGS CAN BE INSULATED WITH MULTICERAMICS JUST BYSPRAYING THEM WITHOUT HAVING TO CREATE ORMANUFACTURE SOME SPECIAL INSULATION BOX.MULTICERAMICS WOULD ALSO BE ANTI-CORROSIVE AS IT ISIMPERVIOUS TO WATER, THUS SEALS THE PIPE. IT IS ALSOWHEN SEALED, RESISTANT TO BUGS OR SMALL ANIMALSFROM TRYING TO LIVE IN IT WHICH IS NORMAL FOR FOAM INSULATION. FOAM ALSO SLOWLY BECOMES WATERSATURATED WHICH THEN CEASES TO INSULATE.

Do you recommend the use of anadditional urethane coating?

YES, WE RECOMMEND SEALING THE THERMAL COAT IN PIPEAPPLICATIONS IF ABUSE FROM HUMANS, ANIMALS ORINSECTS IS EXPECTED. FORMULATIONS SUCH AS: MC502-3,MC-U, MC-U-X, MC-H CAN BE USED AS TOP COAT.

Do you recommend any specificurethane?

YES. A URETHANE MANUFACTURED BY US WHICH IS VERYGOOD AND EFFECTIVE.

What would be the difference in savings(in %) with or without the urethane?

ADDED INSULATION SAVINGS, AND LONG TERM PROTECTIONFOR THE COATING

How long between coats (min)?

GENERALLY, WAIT 24 HOURS BETWEEN COATS. AMBIENT AIRTEMPERATURE AND AIR FLOW ARE THE BIGGEST FACTORS.HOT SURFACES MAY BE RE-COATED WHEN DRY TO THETOUCH FOR THE 1ST AND 2ND COATS, THEN ALLOW IT TO

What is the “R” value of MULTICERAMICS?

MULTICERAMICS, as well as all coatings, do not have an R value. This is because the R Value, as it is established, requires all material to be tested for such, to have a thickness of one inch minimum. Coatings are not applied at these thicknesses therefore they do not qualify for an R value rating. The “RE” or R Equivalence claimed by MC is based on performance, this requires the proper application and or combination of formulations to obtain a comparable performance that equals an R rated insulation alternative.

There are other competitors of MC that have an R value, are these better than MC?

Hardly! MC has the best thermal conductivity performance in the industry.Claims by these companies are misleading since, as we said before, coatings do not qualify under the testing rules for the R value. Any coating manufacturer claiming to have an R value is deceptive.

Can I insulate my house with MC instead of using fiberglass or foam for insulation?

This is not recommended. The fight with cities and authorities to accept coatings instead of foam or fiberglass for insulation is very hard and not fruitful. Cities and Counties require the R value rating, and changing these rules will take some time. However, using MC to enhance the performance of these materials is a very wise proposition, MC will reduce significantly the energy consumption, while recovering the investment in a year or two.

I’m building a House/Office/Studio with shipping containers can I use MC to insulate?

Yes. In fact, all metal structures are far better served by insulating using MC in the recommended format. Call or email the company for the instructional file that will guide you for a successful application and beneficial environment for your living/working project.

How expensive is MC?

If we established that the cost of MC can be recovered in a year or two by reducing the energy consumption, then the cost of MC is zero in that amount of time

Is MC qualified for a rebate from an energy conservation program?

Some cities have such programs for energy reduction by the application of roof coatings. Check with your city for this application. However the savings on energy consumption and future returns for the life of MC will far exceed any such rebates by many thousands of dollars.

What colors is MC available in?

MC is manufactured in 6 different formulations that are specifically tailored for different Applications. Some of these formulations are pure white and can be tinted to earth tone colors, Some others can be manufactured with any color requirement, but there are some restrictions on the quantities and price. Check with your distributor for these requirements.

How can I tell what version of MC I need for my insulation needs?

Each application may present distinctive challenges. Consult with your distributor, who will have access to a company engineer, that can make the proper recommendation for a successful application. Here are some suggestions, but for better results is best to consult and submit project recommendation form 2750.
