EPS manufacturers recycle 100% of their scrap materials. “Discarded Foam is recycled and molded back into scrap blocks for use in new products.
There are 4 primary ways EPS is recycled:
- Crush the old EPS and mix it with newly produced EPS to form new panels.
- Crush the old EPS and mix it with plaster or concrete to produce other lightweight building materials.
- Mix the recycled EPS with soil and compost to promote plant growth due to the enhanced aeration.
- Recycled EPS can be melted and converted to General Purpose Polystyrene (GPPS) pellets, which can be then used to manufacture trash bags,
coat hangers, video cassette/CD casings, stationary items, plant pots and other simple polystyrene products.
